When should I get tested?

If you work in the sex trade, you should make regular appointments for an STI test. The tests are free and anonymous. You reduce the risks of contracting an STI by always using a condom, but a condom can break. Also, get tested when you have symptoms or have been warned.

In any case, we advise you to get tested for STIs at least twice a year. You can also get a free Hepatitis B vaccination from the Municipal Health Service (GGD).

How do I make an appointment?

Our consultation hours are on Monday mornings in Emmen and Wednesday mornings in Assen.

To make an appointment for these consultation hours, you can contact Sense Noord Nederland by calling 0900-7367366. They can be reached on workdays from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 13:45 to 16:30. They will make sure you are scheduled for an appointment with us.

Locations:

  • The location in Emmen: Boerkemaweg 60, in the Treant Hospital.
  • The location Assen: Mien Ruysweg 1, GGD location at the fire station.

I would prefer to test at home, is that possible?

If you don't want to (or can't) go to your GP or the GGD, then do a reliable STI home test. You can get these from:
